VAT refunds

Visitors to Thailand are able to claim a VAT refund upon departure at the following four Airports:

Shops will display the VAT tourist logo and visitors should ask for an application form when making a purchase. This form and the goods must be shown to the customs officer who will stamp the form.

Luxury goods, such as jewellery, gold ornaments, glasses and pens, must also be presented to the Revenue Officer for an additional stamp.

Visitors will receive the VAT refund in the form of a draft, or credit to a credit card.

Visitors will have to show proof of purchase of at least 5,000 Baht worth of goods, and each individual receipt must be at least 2,000 Baht per day.

Large amounts may take longer, as the money cannot be reimbursed at the airport.
